Happy Super Bowl Weekend, foodies!
As any true foodie knows, the Super Bowl has almost nothing to do with football and EVERYTHING to do with great commercials and even better snacks. It’s the ultimate cheat day. For me, it comes just in time, I’m usually starting to stray from my resolutions, so I go all out and then later when I feel horribly sick from all the junk food, I remember exactly why I made the resolutions and I’m right back on track. Thanks football!
If you’re hosting a Super Bowl party, you definitely want to go all out, but keep things as simple as possible so you can still enjoy all the festivities. I love jalapeño poppers, but there’s no way I’m spending the time or energy making the actual thing, let alone deep frying absolutely anything. So this is a great alternative, not to mention it’s so easy to make the night before and bake right as your guests arrive.
Tips and Tricks
- You can make this as spicy or a mild as you like either by buying the hot canned chiles or adding diced fresh jalapeños to the mix. Even a couple dashes of hot sauce will do.
- Same goes for cheese, if you like your dips extra cheesy, add another 1/2 C of any cheese you like or add 1/2 C of something super melty like cheddar or Colby jack to the bread crumb mix.
- Make the cream cheese mix the night before, add the bread crumbs and parmesan the day of and bake as your guests are arriving.
- Alternatively if you’re out of oven space this dip can easily be served cold and it’s still delicious. Just omit the bread crumb topping.
A Note On Ingredients
In most recipes, brand name means pretty much nothing. However, certain brand names are just better. I recommend using Philadelphia Cream Cheese and Daisy Sour Cream for this one.

- 1 8 oz block Philadelphia Cream Cheese
- 1/2 C Daisy Sour Cream
- 1 4 oz can Green Chiles, drained
- 1/4 C Bacon, cooked and chopped
- 1/2 C Parmesan
- 1/2 C Cheddar
- 1 T Garlic Powder
- 2 tsp Salt
- 1/2 C Bread Crumbs
- 2 T Butter, melted
- 1/2 C Parmesan
- 2 T Garlic Powder
- Tortilla chips or Ritz for serving
- Preheat oven to 400°F
- In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, combine cream cheese, sour cream, chiles, bacon, parmesan, cheddar, garlic powder and salt.
- If serving cold you can stop at this step and transfer the dip into your serving dish. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
- If you’re making the dip ahead, cover and refrigerate until ready to bake.
- Evenly spread mixture into a casserole dish.
- In a small bowl, combine bread crumbs, melted butter, parmesan and garlic powder.
- Evenly spread over top of the dip.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes or until warmed all the way through and golden brown on top.
- Cool slightly and serve with chips or crackers.
